Rosa Khutor, Russia (SportsNetwork.com) - Shaun White has decided to withdraw from the Olympic slopestyle event. White will instead concentrate on his preparations for a third straight halfpipe gold medal. "After much deliberation with my team, I have made the decision to focus solely on trying to bring home the third straight gold medal in halfpipe for Team USA," said White in a statement released by U.S. Snowboarding. "The difficult decision to forego slopestyle is not one I take lightly as I know how much effort everyone has put into holding the slopestyle event for the first time in Olympic history, a history I had planned on being part of." White hurt his wrist during a training run on Tuesday and had initially indicated that he wouldnt miss the event. "Shaun is the consummate professional and has made a sound athletic decision," said Jeremy Forster, USSA Snowboarding and Freeskiing director. "We anticipate an outstanding slopestyle debut on Saturday, but also respect the importance to Shaun to keep his focus on winning a third halfpipe gold." The slopestyle course has drawn criticism for its setup and has been modified after Mondays injury to Torstein Horgmo. The Norwegian suffered a broken collarbone and will miss the event. MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica - Canada fell short at the CONCACAF Under-17 Womens Championship final, losing 4-2 to Mexico on penalty kicks. After 90 scoreless minutes, Mexico converted its first three penalty shots to seal its first CONCACAF title at the U-17 level. Canada will now turn its attention to Costa Rica, where the FIFA U-17 Womens World Cup will take place in 2014. The Canadian team earned a berth in that tournament with a 5-0 win over Jamaica in the semifinals earlier this week. "Im really, really proud of the girls," said head coach Bev Priestman. "If you look at what this teams about, its about future national team players. I think, losing on penalties, its hard for the girls but ultimately, there have been some girls who stepped up in this tournament and are knocking on the door." Along with Canada and Mexico, Costa Rica, China, Japan, South Korea, Nigeria, Venezuela, Colombia and Paraguay have all qualified for the World Cup. MONACO -- Tenth-ranked Richard Gasquet has pulled out of the Monte Carlo Masters after failing to shake off a back injury. Gasquet, who also missed Frances Davis Cup quarterfinal win against Germany last weekend, hoped to take part in the tournament after returning to training this week. "I only picked up the racket again on Tuesday, very steadily. But Ive been in pain since yesterday and today, after 20 minutes of training, I couldnt carry on," Gasquet said on Saturday. "I could hardly even carry my bag. I thought things would be fine after 15 days without doing anything. But no, not at all." His absence means 12th-ranked Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, initially facing Ernest Gulbis in the first round, moves up to ninth seed and has a bye into the second round. The Spurs grabbed a 1-0 series lead Thursday night in the sweltering heat of a late spring San Antonio night.THE FORMATIONS: Montreal Impact started the 2014 season in Dallas and their starting XI featured few surprises as new coach Frank Klopas stuck to the 4-3-3 shape his team adopted in pre-season. Klopas had a number of suspensions and injuries to deal with, including star man Marco Di Vaio, so he named Andrew Wenger up top and pushed Houssoun Camara into the centre-back position. First round draft pick Eric Miller got his first MLS start at right back. Collen Warner joined Hernan Bernadello in central midfield with Felipe playing as the attacking central midfield. FC Dallas had a number of injuries themselves with goalkeeper Raul Fernandez and key defenders George John and Zach Loyd missing. New coach Oscar Pareja also adopted a 4-3-3 system that he was familiar with in Colorado. THE GAME: This was a very entertaining match full of tactical adjustments and questionable referee decisions that played a significant impact on the final result. Montreals 4-3-3 turns into a 4-2-3-1 on the counter attack but also, importantly, when they press and this was the theme of the game early. Klopas had his front four press intelligently and the young backline of Dallas, combined with opening day nerves as Pareja later admitted, made it a very difficult opening 15 minutes for the home team. Montreal started on the front foot, causing many turnovers deep in their opponents half. The wide players of Dallas can be electrifying in attack but have little will to defend their flanks, putting pressure on the central midfield pair to carry the load. This works well if the playmaker, in this case Mauro Diaz, cuts in and takes away Hernan Bernadellos distribution but this didnt happen. With Bernadello free, Felipe had license to move forward and this is how Montreal opened the scoring in the 10th minute. Justin Mapp, rightfully so, got the headlines for the goal, cutting in brilliantly on the right, beating three defenders, and supplying scorer Sanna Nyassi at the back post, but it was Felipes run forward that forced the back four to shift over and leave Nyassi unmarked. Montreals dominance continued after the goal, with Bernadello running the show. The Argentine DP sent a long ball over the top for Andrew Wenger to run on to and his cross found Felipe who should have made it 2-0. Bernadello is a very important player for Montreal in this system, and as they play on the counter he is very good at supplying long-range passes to feet, rather than an easy square ball that keeps possession but does nothing for their attack. With Montreal in control, Dallas rocked them back with an equalizer that was their first real threat on goal. A simple ball over the top wasnt cleared by Matteo Ferrari and Fabian Castillo got in behindd to tap home.dddddddddddd It was the goal Dallas needed to calm down and for all of Montreals good play to open the match they were now level. THE TURNING POINT: Diaz will be an interesting player to watch for Dallas this season. With David Ferreira gone, he is now their playmaker. At 1-1 he started to get more touches on the ball and drift away from Bernadello. In the 23rd minute, he shuffled out to the right side and dribbled his way towards the box, facing up with Jeb Brovsky. The left back showed him inside, a route Diaz accepted and as he got in front of Brovsky, the Impact man touched him and he went down. A penalty was awarded and it was very harsh. Blas Perez stepped up and blasted home. Montreal would spend the rest of the game behind. The deficit was increased to 3-1 shortly after half-time when Diaz scored a brilliant free kick just outside the area after Bernadello had been deemed to handle the ball when he was turning away blocking a shot. Once again, the decision seemed very harsh. THE POSITIVES: Impact would make it 3-2 later in the game when Wenger scored an outstanding header from a Felipe cross. It was a goal out of nothing and that is exactly what Montreal will need this season from Wenger, whether Di Vaio is playing or not. Tactically, the midfield central three will cause opponents many problems this season if Bernadello and Felipe play at a high level all season. This is where they will be able to dictate a matchs style. They can counter well and maintain possession, while also protecting the back four. The introduction of new signing Santiago Gonzalez, at 3-2 after 68 minutes, was an exciting one for Montreal and showed some flexibility from Klopas. The Uruguayan was immediately pushed up front, to play just off Wenger, and the midfield turned into a diamond. It made the visitors narrower but this took away the desire of FC Dallas to stretch the game. Once again, Montreal dominated this stretch of the match but the score line within it failed to show that. THE NEGATIVES: Both Dallas and Montreal faded badly last season after starting well so it is difficult to know just how good Dallas are this season but they certainly caused Montreals back four some problems. The left side of Brovsky and Nyassi defensively were often exposed and Klopas had to put Miller there late in the game, bringing on Calum Mallace to play right back. THE STAR MAN: For Dallas, it was, unquestionably, Diaz although Castillo had a very good game. Mapp was Montreals best player and his pace and ball control caused Dallas issues throughout. It was no coincidence that both Castillo and Mapp played on the same flank, allowing each other to attack the full back in one-on-one situations. SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Rudy Gay watched from a sky box seat as his new Sacramento teammates easily handled the Dallas Mavericks on Monday night. The short-handed Kings looked formidable against the Mavericks. DeMarcus Cousins had 32 points and 19 rebounds, and Derrick Williams scored a career-high 31 to pace the Kings to a 112-97 victory over Dallas. Earlier in the day, the Kings completed a seven-player deal with Toronto that brought them Gay, Aaron Gray and Quincy Acy. Greivis Vasquez, Patrick Patterson, John Salmons and Chuck Hayes went to the Raptors. "I guess I came on a good day because the team was playing great," said Gay, a veteran forward who is expected to make his Kings debut Wednesday at home against Utah. "Obviously DeMarcus and Derrick played well. So this is a good start and I cant wait to get out there with the guys." A proven scorer, Gay will no doubt add more punch to a Kings lineup that has been unproductive at times this season. He was Torontos second-leading scorer and has averaged 18 points and 5.9 rebounds in his eight-year career. On this night, the Kings showed plenty of offence without Gay. Sacramento shot 47 per cent, had 23 assists, and outscored the sluggish Mavericks 24-3 on fast-break points. Using just 10 players, the Kings led by 19 points after three quarters and by as many as 24 in the fourth in winning their second straight. "We didnt care if we had 10 or 15 players, we had enough talent to win this game," Kings coach Michael Malone said. "... Our next challenge is to figure out the new guys and how theyre going to play and at what position." Malone knows one thing -- Isaiah Thomas will be his starting point guard. Thomas had 24 points and a career-high 12 assists, and Jason Thompson added 10 points and seven rebounds for the Kings. Sacramento has played 13 of its 19 games at home this season, going 4-9. With Vasquez, the starting point guard gone, Thomas made his first start of the season. The teams second leading scorer and one of the NBAs most productive reserves, he got off to a great start, getting 10 points and three assists in the first quarter when Sacramento established an 11-point lead. "That little Isaiah and DeMarcus Cousins are a handfful," Dallas forward Shawn Marion said.dddddddddddd "Thats a heck of a duo right there." Production from Cousins and Thomas, Sacramentos leading scorers this season, was predictable. What was unexpected were the contributions by Williams, who had struggled a bit since arriving in a trade with Minnesota on Nov. 26. Williams hit 12 of 16 shots and connected on three 3-pointers, one more than he had made entering the game. He also added five rebounds and a career-high five steals. "I finally hit a 3-point shot," said Williams, who was 0 for 5 with the Kings and 2 of 25 overall entering the game. "Its good to make that first shot, and its good when the first couple go in." Monta Ellis had 21 points for the Mavericks, who had won three straight, including the last two on the road. The loss also snapped a five-game win streak against the Kings. Dallas had won 15 of the previous 16 meetings and was 23-3 against the Kings dating to April 4, 2006. Dirk Nowitzki had 18 points, Jose Calderon scored 11 and Shane Larkin had 10 for Dallas. Coming off an impressive win Saturday at Portland, the Mavericks shot 40 per cent and were 5 of 27 on 3-pointers. "I dont think we took them lightly, I think they just outplayed us," Dallas coach Rick Carlisle said. "It was one of those nights where they made a lot more plays than we did." Sacramento continued to play well offensively in the third quarter, outscoring the Mavericks 35-26 to take a 92-73 lead. Williams made a pair of 3s, had two impressive dunks, and scored 13 points. Both Thomas and Cousins had 11 points. The Kings squandered a 16-point lead in the second quarter, but scored 13 unanswered points in taking a 57-47 lead into the intermission. Ellis scored 13 points for Dallas. NOTES: Sacramento outrebounded the Mavericks 29-14 in the first half and 51-39 overall. . Dallas concludes a four-game road trip Wednesday at Golden State. . Center DeJuan Blair started his fourth straight game, but was relatively ineffective with four points and four fouls in 14 minutes. . Rookie guard Ray McCallum made a jumper with just under a minute to play for his first NBA points. He had played only one minute previously. . Cousins had nine of Sacramentos 21 turnovers. BUFFALO, N.Y. - Buffalo Sabres rookie forward Corey Tropp is out indefinitely after breaking his jaw during a fight that sparked a melee in a preseason game at Toronto last weekend. Coach Ron Rolston said Wednesday that Tropp is expected to miss at least five weeks after having surgery to repair the jaw. Tropp also sustained a concussion. Tropps head was bloodied following a fight with Torontos Jamie Devane midway through the third period of Buffalos 5-3 loss on Sunday. A full line brawl occurred before the next faceoff, when Sabres enforcer John Scott went after Torontos Phil Kessel. The brawl led to 211 penalty minutes and three ejections. Rolston was fined by the NHL, which deemed he was partially responsible for his player selection and team conduct. Adidas ZX 700 . Wait until next year comes around. BROOKLYN, N.Y. - A whopping 59 turnovers in three post-season games. Thereve been times the Toronto Raptors playoff series against the Brooklyn Nets has resembled a kick-ball tournament, with balls bouncing wildly off feet. The Nets lead the best-of-seven playoff series 2-1 heading into Sundays Game 4 at Barclays Center, and the Raptors know they desperately need to clean up their act to avoid heading back to Toronto trailing 3-1. You can catch the game live NOW on TSN and TSN GO with pre-game coverage. TSN.cas coverage includes live streaming of the fan festivities at Maple Leaf Square during the game, in-game highlights and live streaming of the post-game news conferences. "If we can get it down to 13, 12, somewhere in that area we are happy with that," said Raptors coach Dwane Casey. "Some of the no-look passes, passes where we think our teammates are going to be, are things we can correct. "You are not going to turn some of our guys into Magic Johnson overnight but we can make better decisions of things we control in our turnovers." Giveaways have been a theme of all three games, and each time, the Raptors have come away vowing to do a better job of protecting the ball. Yet the kick balls and the crazy passes continue. They coughed it up 19 times in Game 1, 21 times in Game 2, and 19 times in Friday nights Game 3, a 102-98 loss. The Raptors practised at Pace University on Saturday, just across the bridge from Brooklyn. It was a long morning of making adjustments on both the offensive and defensive end, said Casey, ahead of Game 4. The Raptors are looking for their first playoff victory on the road since a win over Philadelphia way back in 2001. At least for part of the practice, Casey addressed turnovers. He said aggression has something to do with it — players are getting bumped and giving up the ball. He spoke of working on players "dispositions," which goes for both their aggression in holding onto the ball, and playing with aggression period. The Raptors were manhandled by the Nets for the better part of four quarters Friday, finally fighting back late in the game to come within a point. But disposition isnt an easy thing to coach with just a day or two between easy games. "Well, you have to appeal to the guys pride, their ego and intelligence and we have some intelligent players on this team," the coach said. "Again, its playoff basketball. If you cant get a disposition in the right order at this time of year, this is what we play for. "Our franchise hasnt been there for a while so if we cant get excited now about being tough, physical and fighting through the screens, not complaining about it but fighting through the screens and not letting them hold you and getting to your spot, all those things are disposition plays." DeMar DeRozan and Jonas Valanciunas have been Torontos best two players this series, but theyve also turned the ball over more than anyone. Valanciunas has turned it over 13 times, one more than DeRozan. The Nets have turned the ball over 31 times combined over the three games, and the discrepancy in giveaways is the one glaring statistic in a series that is otherwise so even. The Raptors have outscored the Nets by just a single point — 678-677 — in the seven meetings between these two teams this season. "Man weve just got to be strong with the ball," said Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry. "Theyre definitely physical when we drive the lane but weve got to be a little bit stronger. Its playoff time. Weve got to be stronger with the ball when were driving." Casey said the previous night that Lowry looked like hed been through a "15-round bout," and the gritty point guard looked similarly the worse for wear Saturday morning. Parked on a bench before addressing the media, the teams medical staff inspected his right knee and his busted lip that required a stitch to close Friday night. Lowrys knee was sore from a knee-on-knee collision. "Im going to get treatment around the clock to get healthy. Ice, stim (muscle stimulator). . . weve got a great training staff. We did some work this morning, well do some work when I get back. Get to as close to 100 per cent as possible right now," Lowry said. "Right now its very sore but I have no doubt that Im going to play." DeRozan — who scored 30 points on Friday to become the first player in Raptors history to record 30-plus points in back-to-back playoff games — likes the quick turnaround between games. "I cant wait to play (Sunday)," the Raptors all-star said. "Honestly, get back out there and get a game." "(One day between games) is a lot better," DeRozan added. "I think we could use that to our advantage too, with the quick turnaround. Just come out with high energy knowing we need to get at least one game in their place before we go back home." While the Raptors expected a hostile crowd in Brooklyns Barclays Center — especially after GM Masai Ujiris now famous F-bomb when mentioning the city — it was a pretty docile crowd that awaited them Friday. "It felt like another game to me, like a regular-season game," DeRozan said. "When you talk about atmosphere, honestly, it didnt have nothing on Toronto at all. Thats just our fans though, so it was a lot different. Playing out there felt like another game. I felt comfortable out there. We just have to clean up some things." The Raptors have to hope for better from starters Terrence Ross and Amir Johnson. Ross, who scored 51 points in a game earlier this season to tie Vince Carters franchise record, has struggled mightily. He has yet to score anywhere near double figures, finishing with five points on Friday. Johnson, while given the tough assignment of guarding perennial all-star Paul Pierce, has been hit or miss. He had seven points and four rebounds on Friday. Their teammates continue to be supportive of the two who were key in the Raptors getting to the playoffs this season. "Hes still the same Terrence," DeRozan said, when asked about how Ross fared in practice Saturday. "We all understand everybodys not going to have their best nights. We all understand that. Our job is to keep everybodys confidence high. "Amir, Terrence, they understand whats at stake in this next game and theyre going to definitely come through for us." Arsenal remains alone at the top of the table, but are now just two points clear of second-place Liverpool and lost ground to the pack, with six teams now just five points behind or less. 2. Liverpool (LW- 5) The Reds outmuscled Fulham at Anfield thanks to another standout performance from Luis Suarez who has now scored five goals in three League matches since returning from suspension. 3. Manchester United (LW- 8) Dont look now but the Red Devils may be rounding into the title-holders many expected them to be this season. True, they managed just one goal at home against Arsenal, but were able to protect the lead against a hard-charging club in a way theyd failed to earlier on this season. 4. Southampton (LW- 7) The Saints might just be for real. Theyve lost just once this season and have avoided the slip-ups that have dogged supposedly superior teams early-on in the Premiership. No one expected them to be this good, but their record speaks for itself. The real test is coming, however, with road games at Anfield and Stamford Bridge beckoning in their next two fixtures. 5. Chelsea (LW- 3) That Eden Hazard penalty caused immediate ripples, but salvaged a point for the Blues at home against West Brom. The fact that it followed a loss to Newcastle in Week 10 and a very fortunate victory (thanks to Joe Hart!) against Manchester City has Chelsea trending very much in the wrong direction. 6. Tottenham (LW- 2) Spurs home loss to Newcastle probably wouldve made a bigger ripple had it not been for headline-grabbing results involving their fellow London clubs and the Manchester pair. Still, having salvaged just a single point from their last two matches and facing an Etihad date with City in Week 12, optimism isnt exactly running high at White Hart Lane. 7. Manchester City (LW- 4) Did City use up two weeks worth of goals by putting the boots to Norwich City in Week 10? Possibly. Was 19th-place Sunderland the better team in their Week 11 tilt? Most definitely. The loss dropped City from fifth to eighth in the table. 8. Everton (LW- 6) Everton joins Southampton as the only one-loss teams in the Premiership so far this season, but a team that hopes to contend for top-flight status has to do better than a scoreless draw to a relegation-bound team like Crystal Palace. 9. Newcastle United (LW- 10) How do you respond to being the first team to lose to Sunderland in 2013-14? You go out and you beat a pair of London clubs. If the Magpies can play more like the team that blanked Spurs and Chelsea, they could continue their table ascent. 10. West Bromwich Albion (LW- 11) Okay, so you probably got robbed of three points. Still, a draw at Stamford Bridge and sitting top-half of the table at this point of the season are probablly enough positives to salve the wounds inflicted in stoppage time.dddddddddddd 11. Aston Villa (LW- 14) Villa had to have worried their home fans into thinking their goalless drought was bound to continue, but they struck late in their home match against Cardiff City. Leandro Bacuna and Aleksander Kozak made good on a halfs-worth of excellent chances to get back to the score sheet and a well-earned three points. 12. Hull City (LW- 9) The bad news is that Hull suffered their most lopsided loss of the year at the hands of Southampton. Still, the loss came at the hands of a surprisingly strong side and marked the first time the Tigers surrendered upwards of two goals this season. 13. Swansea City (LW- 13) The Swans looked to have three points in hand until Charlie Adams stoppage-time penalty spoiled the fun. That said, Swansea has grabbed points when it can so far, losing only to the likes of Spurs, United, Saints and Arsenal – their Week 10 Welsh Derby loss aside. 14. Cardiff City (LW- 12) Cardiff had a good half before Villa broke their goalless frustration and took the points. Not the way they wanted to chase their Welsh Derby triumph and not a good omen with Manchester United laying in wait. 15. Norwich City (LW- 18) It could really only go up for Norwich in Week 11 as even a loss would have been an improvement if theyd surrendered less than seven goals. Luckily, the Canaries pulled out a win, dropping West Ham at home and ending a four-match winless drought. 16. Stoke City (LW- 16) Stoke managed a reverse of their Week 10 feat, by scoring in the very last minute to salvage a draw. Stoke isnt losing matches at the same clip as Fulham (with whom they sit level at 10 points), but theyd be in a much safer position relegation-wise if they could turn a couple of the draws theyve been earning into victories. 17. West Ham United (LW- 15) The Hammers extended their winless streak to four games with their 3-1 loss to Norwich City. While few will begrudge a loss to a team like Manchester City (see: Week 8), the team must do better against the teams directly ahead of them if they hope to stay up for next season. 18. Sunderland (LW- 19) Sunderland seems to have found a new gear at home, recording their second straight home victory (oh yeah, and their second victory, period) this week against Manchester City. A 1-0 victory may not turn a lot of heads for those that werent watching, but they rode a Phil Bardsley goal and an exceptional defensive performance by Wes Brown to take a step closer to the rest of the pack and a step up in our rankings. 19. Fulham (LW- 17) Fulham got plain out-classed by Liverpool in Week 11, losing to such an extent that one TSN analyst had them dead last in this weeks rankings. Fulham has just three wins this season and two of them have come against the only two teams below them in the table. 20. Crystal Palace (LW- 20) Palace got just their second result of the season, earning a goalless home draw against a strong Everton side. Still, they remain dead last in the table, having gone winless in eight matches and having scored just twice over that span. MONTREAL -- The Montreal Alouettes announced on Thursday that they have signed import defensive lineman Jermaine McElveen to a two-year contract. McElveen spent the first four seasons of his CFL career with the Alouettes from 2008 to 2011, and played on two Grey Cup champion teams with Montreal. He played the last two years with Saskatchewan, and is the second member of the defending Grey Cup champs to sign with Montreal in as many days, joining linebacker Diamond Ferri, who signed with the Alouettes on Wednesday. "Jermaine is a character guy. He really cares," explained Alouettes general manager and coach Jim Popp. "Hes a versatile defensive lineman who can play inside or outside." TAMPA, Fla. -- The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are changing directions on their rebuilding project -- again. Coach Greg Schiano was fired Monday after two losing years extended the franchises playoff drought to six seasons. General manager Mark Dominik was also ousted, ending an unsuccessful five-year stint that produced flashes of hope but far more disappointment than ownership felt was acceptable. "The results over the past two years have not lived up to our standards and we believe the time has come to find a new direction," Bucs co-chairman Bryan Glazer said in a brief statement released a day after a season-ending 42-17 loss to the New Orleans dropped Schianos record to 11-21. "Mark has been a valued member of our organization for two decades and we respect the passion he showed for the Buccaneers during his time here," Glazer added. "We thank Greg for his hard work and effort the past two seasons, but we feel these moves are necessary in order to achieve our goals." In typical Bucs fashion, the reclusive owners of the team announced the third coaching change in five years with a one paragraph statement and did not schedule a news conference to discuss the situation. Word broke less than 30 minutes after the team closed the locker room, where players were sorting through equipment and belongings before scattering for the off-season. They met with the coaching and medical staff for exit interviews and physicals and had not been informed of the dismissals before media was allowed into the room. Many, including Pro Bowl defensive tackle Gerald McCoy, had hoped Schiano would keep his job. "Its tough for the players to see your coaches go. You never want to see anybody get fired," McCoy said after the announcement. "Me personally, I havent had any consistently in my career. Third head coach, going on my fifth year and three head coaches. Add up everybody, itll be six d-line coaches." The Bucs went 7-9 in their first season under Schiano, collapsing after a 6-4 start that had the team in playoff contention. After trading for three-time All-Pro cornerback Darrelle Revis and signing safety Dashon Goldson in free agency to bolster a porous defence, the team entered training camp this season with heightened expectations. But a messy split with former quarterback Josh Freeman, an outbreak of MRSA infections in the locker room and repoorts that Schiano was losing the support of players tiring of his rules and coaching style dogged the team during an 0-8 start that put the coachs job in jeopardy.dddddddddddd Despite having a rookie quarterback and finishing with 16 players on injured reserve, including running back Doug Martin and receiver Mike Williams, the Bucs went 4-4 over the second half of the season. That hardly seemed like progress, though, because the offence got progressively worse and finished last in the NFL in passing and total yardage. Still, players seemed impressed with the way Schiano held the team together, insisting right up until the end that the coach never lost the locker room. "In times like that you see a lot of guys crumble, a lot of guys break. You never saw a different attitude with him," McCoy said. "You could never see if the media was getting to him or see if anything we were doing was getting to him. He came in every day and was the same person, regardless," McCoy added. "... Hes the most consistent thing in the building, I will give him that." Schiano was hired in January 2012, leaving Rutgers to take over a team that ended its final 10 games under Raheem Morris on a 10-game losing streak. He inherited one the NFLs worst defences, but also a young quarterback in Freeman, who won 10 games in his first full season as a starter and became the franchises first 4,000-yard passer in Schianos first year in Tampa Bay. But Freemans relationship with Schiano soured when the Bucs dropped five of the final six games of 2012, with Freemans inconsistency contributing to the slide. The fifth-year quarterback was benched and subsequently released after an 0-3 start this season, replaced by rookie Mike Glennon, a third-round draft pick who went 4-9 in 13 starts. The Bucs have not made the playoffs since 2007. They havent won a post-season game since their 2002 Super Bowl run that produced the franchises only Super Bowl title. Part of the blame for the poor performance rests with Dominik, who was named general manager in 2009 -- the year Morris was promoted from defensive co-ordinator to replace former coach Jon Gruden. Dominik survived Morris firing after a 4-12 finish two years ago. But in the end, a spotty draft record, the mishandling of Freemans situation, and the teams 28-52 mark during a five-season tenure as GM became impossible to overlook. OKLAHOMA CITY -- Three games into his comeback from injury, Kobe Bryant remains a work in progress for the Los Angeles Lakers. While Kevin Durants Oklahoma City Thunder continued their early season roll Friday night. Durant had 31 points, eight rebounds and five assists, Russell Westbrook added 19 points, 12 assists and eight rebounds and the Thunder routed the Los Angeles Lakers 122-97. Serge Ibaka added 19 points and 10 rebounds for his 11th double-double of the season and Reggie Jackson also scored 19 for Oklahoma City, which has won five straight and 13 of its past 14 games. The Thunder are unbeaten in 11 home games this season and have won four straight at home over the Lakers. "We have a pretty good team," Oklahoma City coach Scott Brooks said. "Thats been the case for a while now. One of the things that I tell the guys, every season has its own identity. "We started the season knowing that we wanted to ... just continue to build trust in each other and just focus on each other and not worry about anything else, but trying to make your teammates look good. Its early, but weve done a great job with that." Los Angeles has lost all three games since Bryants return from a torn Achilles tendon. Bryant had 13 assists -- just two shy of his career high -- but showed little of his trademark offensive ability, finishing with four points on 2-of-6 shooting. He played 23 minutes and sat out the fourth quarter with the game out of hand. "There is no secret formula that you can sprinkle out there," Los Angeles coach Mike DAntoni said. "Hell get more comfortable, then the guys will get more comfortable around him and then hell do a better job." Nick Young led the Lakers with 17 points. Xavier Henry, playing in his hometown, scored 15 points for Los Angeles while Pau Gasol had 14 points and seven rebounds. Oklahoma City made quick work of the Lakers, setting season highs with 38 points in the first quarter and 66 points in the first half. Oklahoma Citys lead was mostly in double digits from the three-minute mark of the first quarter on. The Thunder finished with a season-high 34 assists and outrebounded the Lakers 59-41. "Theyre a good team and they just beat us," DAntoni said. "Thats number one. Our defence is not keeping it in front of us right now and offensive rebounds, its been a problem for us for a while. We turn the ball over too much. Its a combination of them outrunning us and them getting to the boards." The Lakers played without three injured point guards -- Steve Nash, Jordan Farmar and Steve Blake -- forcing Bryant into the position even as he works his way back from his injury. Los Angeles committed 19 turnovers, including seven by Bryant. Los Angeles jumped to a quick 13-7 lead and briefly looked as if it might stay with the Thunder, but Durant exited a timeout with a dunk and a 16-foot jumper to ignite an 18-3 run that put Oklahoma City in control. A 10-0 run by the Lakers early in the second quarter pulled them within 44-38, but Oklahoma City answered with a 12-0 spurt and the lead remained in double digits the rest of the way. The Thunder led 66-51 at halftime and werent challenged after that. As good as theyve been playing, Durant said the Thunder still have room for improvement. "We just want to play our best brand of basketball at the right time," he said. "But we cant do that unless we focus on today. Today we did a good job of playing together and playing hard on the defensive end. We cant think about April. Weve got to get past these days. "We can be a lot better. There are a lot of things we need to work on -- transition defence, rebounding, passing. On offence weve got to flow a little better. But our chemistry is growing. Thats the most important thing." On the Lakers first two possessions, Bryant was tied up by Oklahoma City rookie Andre Roberson, then had the ball stolen by Westbrook. Bryant didnt take a shot until making a steal that led to a breakaway with 3:50 left in the first quarter, but he eschewed dunking the ball, instead laying it off the backboard. Bryant went 2 of 2 from the field in the first half and was a bit more aggressive after halftime, but missed all four of his shots. It was his second single-digit scoring outing since returning from his injury on Sunday. Westbrooks double-double was his fifth of the season. Durant finished 10 of 13 from the field while Ibaka went 8 of 13. Wesley Johnson added 13 points for Los Angeles. NOTES: After missing three games with back spasms, Lakers C Chris Kaman suited up Friday and entered the game at the start of the fourth quarter. He finished with nine points. ... Thunder G Thabo Sefolosha missed his third straight game with a sprained right knee. The team said he remains day to day. ... Young received a technical foul from official David Guthrie early in the second quarter after complaining following a 3-pointer by Oklahoma Citys Jeremy Lamb. ... Oklahoma City recorded its 99th straight regular-season sellout at Chesapeake Energy Arena. ... Jackson has hit at least one 3-pointer in 10 straight games for Oklahoma City. ... Lakers C Robert Sacre grabbed a career-high eight rebounds. Matt Garza Brewers Jersey . "It feels great (to re-sign with Rochester)," Vitarelli said. "Ive had two great years so far and weve been very successful, so its great to be part of the team again. http://www.baseballbrewerslockroom.com/tyler-thornburg-brewers-jersey/ .Y. -- The Ottawa Senators got aggressive in overtime and Jared Cowen made it work. http://www.baseballbrewerslockroom.com/aaron-hill-brewers-jersey/ . -- League scoring leader Anthony Mantha had two goals and two assists to lead the Val-dOr Foreurs over the Blainville-Boisbriand Phoenix 6-3 on Wednesay in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League play on Wednesday. They also overcame a blown save by Sean Doolittle, whose streak of 26 2-3 innings ended when Miami scored the tying run in the ninth. Ryan Braun Youth Jersey . Its what they expected. And now theyll meet in a French Open final with so much at stake for both.NEW YORK -- Fox is objecting to the proposed sale of the Los Angeles Dodgers, saying the incoming ownership group that includes Magic Johnson has not disclosed whether Time Warner Cable is involved in the purchase. Foxs Prime Ticket subsidiary filed the objection Tuesday in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Delaware. It asked for written assurance that Time Warner wasnt contributing funds being used for Guggenheim Baseball Managements purchase of the team from Frank McCourt and the incoming owners dont have any formal or informal agreements for the teams broadcast rights starting in 2014. Fox asked that it be given parts of the purchase agreement that were not filed with the court. "Our filing today was a routine administrative filing to ensure our rights are protected," Fox Sports spokesman Chris Bellitti said. Fox, the Dodgers current broadcaster, has an exclusive 45-day period starting in October to try to negotiate a new contract with the team. The current contract also prohibits the Dodgers from talking to other potential buyers of the media rights before Nov. 30 and gives Fox a limited right of first refusal on competing offers received after that date. Major League Baseball also filed an objection, saying not enough money had been set aside to satisfy what it is owed by the Dodgers. While the Dodgers hhave put aside $322,065 for MLBs claims, the league said it was owed at least $8 million as of Feb.dddddddddddd22. A hearing to confirm the sale agreement is scheduled for Friday before U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Kevin Gross. "The Los Angeles Dodgers anticipate confirmation of the debtors plan of reorganization on schedule," the Dodgers said in a statement, adding it views "Foxs objection as without merit." Tripp Kyle, the spokesman for Guggenheim Baseball, declined comment. MLB also has separate concerns about the financing of the deal. Guggenheim has not disclosed whether funds from insurance companies it controls are being used, and MLB is worried such funds have the potential to subject the team to state regulators. Guggenheim Baseball is headed by Mark Walter, the chief executive officer of the financial services firm Guggenheim Partners. Guggenheim Baseball agreed March 27 to buy the Dodgers for $2 billion, including $1,587,798,000 in cash. In a separate deal, affiliates of the incoming owners and McCourt will acquire the land surrounding Dodger Stadium for $150 million. Unable to make payroll, McCourt put the Dodgers in bankruptcy last June. The sale is to close by April 30, the day McCourt is to make a $131 million payment to former wife Jamie as part of their divorce. TORONTO -- The Toronto Raptors came into Fridays game against the New York Knicks hoping to clinch the Atlantic Division for just the second time in franchise history in front of a home crowd. But after losing 108-100 they had to wait for some help from the Atlanta Hawks, which came moments later in the form of a 93-88 win over the Brooklyn Nets. "Its sweet and sour," Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry said. "Its very sweet that we won the division but it sucks that we didnt win it by a win. But well take the division champs any day." Atlantic Division T-shirts were draped over each chair in the Raptors locker-room to celebrate following the Nets loss. But despite locking up the division, the Raptors wont be taking it easy for the rest of the season. "Were still anxious," said DeMar DeRozan, who led Toronto with 26 points. "We still want more. Were not satisfied with nothing (yet). "We understand we have much more basketball to play and a long road to go and we want to take advantage of it. Not just get there and say we got there, where people doubted us. We definitely feel like we can go in and make some noise." Carmelo Anthony shook off a sore shoulder and scored a game-high 30 points and Amare Stoudemire scored 24 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as the New York (34-45) overcame a slow start to pick up the win. Lowry added 25 points for the Raptors (46-33) and Jonas Valanciunas had 14 points and a career-high 21 rebounds. The Knicks arrived in Toronto after a four-day break between games. "It helped a lot," Anthony said of the time off. "It helped big time. I got a chance to get some rest, got treatment on multiple days and it helped me tonight." Amir Johnson returned to the lineup after missing the previous three games with a sore right ankle. He played 17 minutes and was scoreless from the field. "Im good," Johnson said. "I just got to get back into a groove. It felt like I was a step slow. Amare came out freaking flying ... He definitely played great." Stoudemires 24 points were a season-high. He logged 40 minutes against the Raptors. "Amare was big," Knicks head coach Mike Woodson said. "I played him well over his minutes that we set him at, but I didnt have a choice. He elected to go and that was good for me." The Knicks shot 50 per cent from the floor in the first quarter, but the Raptors held a two-point advantage over New York heading into the second quarter after scoring six-of-eight three-point attempts. Anthony, who missed both previous games between the Knicks and Raptors this season with a sprained ankle, made his presence felt early, scoring 18 points in the first half. "Unbelievable," said Raptors head coach Dwane Casey of Anthonys effort on the court. "He made the plays he made. He was double-teamed. John Salmons and Terrence (Ross) were draped over him. I cant fault the effort. He made some tough shots." Despite Anthonys strong performance however, the Raptors took a 47-45 lead into the break. After connecting on 7-of-12 attempts from beyond the arc in the first half, Toronto made seven three-pointers in the third frame. Toronto continued to struggle with Anthony, though, and the Knicks took a 78-77 lead into the fourth on the strength of Anthonys 27 points through three quarters. "We had no answer for him," Casey said. "We double-teamed him. We rotated all of the big men we had. We fronted, whatever we had to do. He made the shots. He made the plays, some tough plays. Carmelo was Carmelo." The Raptors went more than six minutes without scoring a field goal after a dunk from DeRozan at the 9:15 mark of the fourth quarter kept them within two points. Torontos offensive drought allowed the Knicks to pull ahead by 11 points, their largest lead of the game. Stoudemire scored eight of his 24 points in the fourth quarter. Lowry, who set a franchise record for most three-pointers made in a season with 180 -- passing Morris Petersons record of 177 set in 2005-06 -- was assessed a technical foul with 2:09 remaining in the third for arguing a non-call after a drive to the basket. Prior to the game, Casey stressed the importance of facing a team that is fighting for an opportunity to make the post-season. While he was disappointed with the loss, he said the Raptors lost to a team playing with its back against the wall. "Its funny how the expectations change," Casey said. "We go from developing and now all at once we lost to Carmelo Anthony and a team like this and the world (is collapsing). "We still have some growing to do. We have a great foundation from where we are. Now we just want to be ready to go into the playoffs with some momentum." All that matters to the son of a high school coaching legend is that hes the one they selected. "Its been my life-long dream to be an NFL head coach," Pettine said Thursday, "and however that opportunity presents itself, its fine with me." After nearly a month of twists, turns and talk, the Browns found their man. Buffalos defensive co-ordinator, who didnt seem to be on Clevelands radar when the team began a coaching search last month, signed a five-year contract Thursday and was named the Browns seventh full-time coach since 1999. Pettine replaces Rob Chudzinski, fired on Dec. 29 after just one season. The Browns interviewed 10 candidates before deciding on the 47-year-old Pettine, who has built a solid reputation with a no-nonsense approach with his players. "I have been nicknamed BFT -- Blunt Force Trauma," he said. "The days are too short to dance around subjects some time and I think guys appreciate that." His straight-forward style attracted Browns owner Jimmy Haslam, who set out to find a "strong winner" and feels the clean-shaven Pettine can lead Clevelands resurgence. "Hes very smart," Haslam said. "Hes aggressive. Hes innovative. You can see hes tough. Hes going to be very demanding. Hes going to set high standards for our organization." Pettine spent one year with the Bills after four as Rex Ryans defensive co-ordinator with the New York Jets. Before that, Pettine was an assistant coach in Baltimore, giving him some familiarity in Clevelands division. Pettine understands there are challenges in turning around the Browns, who have lost at least 11 games in each of the past six seasons and made the playoffs once in their expansion era. Pettine believes the Browns have talent -- as evidenced by their six Pro Bowlers -- and wants to be the one to return them to glory. "Theres only 32 of these jobs and they dont come along often," Pettine said. "People ask me, Why didnt you wait? There will be chances next year? I dont know if I believe in that. When you put all the factors together, this franchise is in position, given the right leadership, to win." Pettine emerged as the favourite to become Clevelands fourth coach in six years as the Browns eliminated candidates and Denver offensive co-ordinator Adam Gase, considered the front-runner when the search started, told the team to movee on without him.dddddddddddd His hiring ends a 25-day odyssey for the Browns. It was a quest filled with rumours, denials, withdrawals and far too much drama for a franchise seeking stability. At the Pro Bowl in Hawaii, Browns tight end Jordan Cameron echoed the sentiments of most Cleveland fans. "Im just happy to have a coach," he said. The Browns flew to Mobile, Ala., on Tuesday to interview Pettine for the second time at the Senior Bowl. The four-hour meeting came shortly after Gase, the first candidate the team contacted, called Haslam and withdrew from consideration. The team had been expected to give Seattle defensive co-ordinator Dan Quinn a second interview, but if he was their pick, the Browns would have had to wait until after the Super Bowl to finalize a deal. Banner said the decision to hire Pettine before speaking with Quinn a second time was "tough." As six other teams filled their head-coaching vacancies, the Browns kept looking. The lengthy delay led to a national perception the team didnt have a clear plan. Aware of the criticism, Haslam sent a letter to Cleveland fans last week explaining why the team was being "methodical" in finding Chudzinskis replacement. Haslam argued the view of the Browns was media driven. "Thats a perception that you all have generated," he said to reporters. "Thats not the perception among candidates or football people that Ive talked to around the country." Browns CEO Joe Banner took a playful jab at Clevelands front office, which was characterized locally as "The Three Stooges" when the search began. "I dont know if you had a chance to meet Mike, but since (GM) Mike Lombardi and I are Moe and Larry, we went and set out to find Curly and we succeeded," he said. "Thats why it took so long; there arent a lot of Curlys running around the country." Now that hes in place, Pettine is ready to roll up his sleeves and fix the Browns. Football is in his blood. He learned the game from his father, Mike Pettine Sr., who won four Pennsylvania state championships and retired as the winningest coach in state history. Not long after getting the job, Pettine phoned his dad. "It was special," he said. "It didnt last very long because he knew I had a lot of stuff to get done. My poor mom answered the phone and he said "Is that Michael?" He ripped it out of her hands. They were both excited and knew how much work it went into this." Glendale, AZ - The Phoenix Coyotes re-signed defenseman Chris Summers to a two-year contract on Monday. Summers has seen scant playing time with the Coyotes since being selected 29th overall by the club in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, having played in 47 career NHL games. The 26-year-old American scored his first two NHL goals and added an assist in 18 games for Phoenix this past season. He also totaled two goals and seven assists in 48 AHL games with Portland. Belgium Soccer Jersey . 2 Juan Ignacio Chela both overcame one-set deficits to win their quarter-finals at the Vina Del Mar VTR Open on Friday, giving Argentine players three of the four semifinal berths.SINGAPORE -- Paula Creamer sank a 75-foot eagle putt on the second playoff hole against Azahara Munoz to win the HSBC Womens Champions on Sunday for her first LPGA title since the 2010 U.S. Womens Open. Creamers putt curled across the 18th green and then rolled slowly down the slope and directly into the hole. She ran across the green, then fell to her knees and put her head on the ground, laughing and pounding the grass. "Its one of those putts where if you just get it in the right spot, its going to fall down," she said. "But I could stand there all day long and putt that and I dont think get it within six, seven feet." Creamer and Munoz finished 72 holes tied at 10-under 278, one stroke ahead of Karrie Webb, who led after every round but bogeyed three of her last six holes to give up a three-shot lead and finish third. Creamer captured eight titles early in her career before getting her breakthrough win at a major at the U.S. Womens Open. After that title, though, Creamer found it tough to win again. She came close on a number of occasions, only to fall short every time. Two years ago, she lost an LPGA record nine-hole playoff against Jiyai Shin at the Kingsmill Championship. She was also third here in Singapore last year and finished in a tie for third twice to start this season. "I just was struggling. I was enjoying what I was doing, but I wasnt loving it," she said. "My expectations were way too high." In December, Creamer got engaged to Derek Heath, which she said put some of her past difficulties in perspective. Then came Sundays victory against one of the toughest fields outside the majors, featuring 19 of the top 20 ranked players. "It might be one of my favourite wins. ... Its been almost three years and so much has happened," she said. "Holding that trophy, gosh, it was so nice." For much of the day, it appeared aas if Webb, not Creamer, would take the trophy home.dddddddddddd But after avoiding trouble on a tricky Serapong course at Sentosa Golf Club for much of the week, the veteran Australian stumbled late. First, Webbs three-foot par putt on the 13th caught the edge of the hole and curled away. Then she hooked her tee shot left on the 15th, grimacing as it dropped into the water. She settled for bogey on both. She came undone on the 18th when another errant tee shot ended up in a bunker. She took a big swing at the ball and it hit the lip of the bunker, plopping back down into the sand to lead to another bogey. "Im a bit in my head right now," Webb said after the round. "Just not a lot of good decisions." Creamer and Munoz, meanwhile, were steady in the closing holes. Creamer, who trailed Webb by four strokes at the start of the day, made a difficult 12-footer for birdie on the 15th to pull even with Webb at 10 under. Then, after hitting into the bunker herself on No. 18, she recovered to save par and headed to the clubhouse to wait for Munoz to finish. The Spaniard, who had trailed by five strokes early in the round, came out of nowhere to join the leaders by sinking a 12-foot birdie putt on the 17th. She had a chance to win it on the 18th but pulled her birdie putt wide. Webb wasnt the only one who had a disappointing day. Defending champion Stacy Lewis saw her streak of 13 consecutive top-10 finishes broken with her joint-40th place. She had been closing in on Webbs LPGA record of 16 straight top-10 finishes, set in 1998-99. "I played terrible all week," she said. "I didnt hit the ball well or make any putts." World No. 1 Inbee Park shot a 68 to finish in joint fourth place at 7-under 281 with No. 2 Suzann Pettersen, So Yeon Ryu, Angela Stanford and Morgan Pressel. Michelle Wie and Teresa Lu were two strokes back in a tie for ninth.
