Bell Media and the Ottawa Senators announced Wednesday that they have reached a comprehensive new 12-year regional broadcast rights and corporate sponsorship agreement that will make TSN and RDS the official broadcasters of the Ottawa Senators through to the 2025-2026 season. Bell Medias 12-year partnership with the Ottawa Senators includes five major components: - English-language regional television broadcast rights for TSN – a minimum of 52 regular season and pre-season games - French-language regional television broadcast rights for RDS – a minimum of 40 regular season and pre-season games - English-language broadcast rights for TSN Radio 1200 – all games - French-language radio broadcast rights – all games - Telecommunications and retail sponsorship and activation rights "We recognized early on that our regional broadcast rights coming up for renewal was a very important asset," said Senators owner Eugene Melnyk. "This new 12-year agreement with Bell Media represents one of the most wide-ranging and comprehensive deals in NHL history. "A long-term deal was personally important as it will allow us to work very closely with the Bell family to continually integrate emerging and evolving technologies so our fans receive a superior product for our regional television and radio broadcasts. This agreement is significant for the Senators, our fans and the future of our franchise." Beginning next season, the agreement will see TSN and RDS each broadcast its slate of regular season and pre-season games in the Ottawa Senators designated broadcast region, which spans Eastern and Northern Ontario, Quebec, Atlantic Canada, and Newfoundland. The new agreement also grants full radio broadcast rights to TSN Radio 1200 in Ottawa, continuing to make it the official English radio voice of the Ottawa Senators over the next 12 years. Details on the French-language radio broadcasts will be announced in the coming weeks. "This comprehensive partnership marks an exciting new chapter for the Ottawa Senators and all of their fans, as well as TSN, RDS, and Bell," said Kevin Crull, President of Bell Media. "Leveraging the strength of world-class hockey production at TSN and RDS, as well as Bells extensive assets and reach, we are eager to amplify Ottawa Senators regional coverage to a whole new level." Additionally, the Senators and Bell are strengthening their exclusive corporate telecommunications sponsorship over the long-term. It includes a broad variety of activations on all levels, including community engagement, in-arena promotions and branding, and retail support through The Source. Bell, an original partner of the Ottawa Senators, has a relationship with the team that dates back 22 seasons to when the team returned to the NHL – marking Bells longest relationship with an NHL franchise. This partnership will also continue to invest in the community. Bell will remain the official sponsor of the Senators official practice arena, the Bell Sensplex, and the Bell Capital Cup, one of the worlds largest minor hockey tournaments. The agreement features a number of future programs to enhance the fan experience, both inside and outside of Canadian Tire Centre. Details on these initiatives will be announced at a later date. Along with being the official regional television broadcast rights holders for the Ottawa Senators, Bell Media also holds long-term broadcast rights for the Toronto Maple Leafs (TSN and TSN Radio 1050), Winnipeg Jets (TSN and TSN Radio 1290), Montreal Canadiens (RDS and TSN Radio 690), Vancouver Canucks (TEAM 1040), along with all Hockey Canada games including the IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship, IIHF Hockey Championship and the IIHF World Womens Hockey Championship. According to Major League Baseball calculations sent to teams Tuesday, the Los Angeles Dodgers were the only other team that exceeded the tax threshold this year and must pay $11.4 million. Boston finished just under for the second straight year, coming in $225,666 shy of the $178 million mark. Figures include average annual values of contracts for players on 40-man rosters, earned bonuses and escalators, adjustments for cash in trades and $10.8 million per team in benefits. Because the Yankees have been over the tax threshold at least four consecutive times, they pay at a 50 per cent rate on the overage, and their $28,113,945 bill was second only to their $34.1 million payment following the 2005 season. The Yankees are responsible for $252.7 million of the $285.1 million in tax paid by all clubs over the past 11 years. Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner said he hopes to get under the threshold next year, when it rises to $189 million. That would reset the teams tax rate to 17.5 per cent for 2015 and get the Yankees some revenue-sharing refunds. But following agreements Tuesday on a $2 million, one-year deal with second baseman Brian Roberts and a $7 million, two-year contract with left-hander Matt Thornton, the Yankees are at $177.7 million for 15 players next year, when benefits are likely to total between $11 million and $12 million. Their only hope to get below the threshold appears to be if an arbitrator upholds most of Alex Rodriguezs 211-game suspension, relieving the team of a large percentage of the third basemans $25 million salary.dddddddddddd Tax money is used to fund player benefits and MLBs Industry Growth Fund. The Yankees finished with the highest regular payroll for the 15th consecutive year, winding up at a record $237,018,889. The Dodgers, in their first full season under new ownership, were just $146,647 behind after nearly doubling spending from $129.1 million. Regular payrolls include salaries, earned bonuses and pro-rated shares of signing bonuses. Los Angeles had a higher payroll for the tax: $243 million to New Yorks $234 million. But because the Dodgers didnt exceed the threshold in 2012, they pay at a 17.5 per cent rate and owe $11,415,959. They would pay at a 30 per cent rate if they exceed the threshold next year. Checks to the commissioners office are due by Jan. 21. Houston, which lost more than 100 games for the third straight season, had a payroll less than one-eighth that of the Yankees and Dodgers. The Astros finished at $29.3 million, the lowest total in the major leagues since the 2008 Florida Marlins and just $1.3 million more than Rodriguez made with the Yankees. After trading many of their stars following an unsuccessful first season in their new downtown ballpark, the Marlins lowered their payroll to $42.3 million from $89.9 million in 2012. Minnesota dropped from $101 million to $76 million. Toronto boosted spending from $92 million to nearly $126 million. The average salary increased 6.9 per cent, to $3,320,089 from $3,105,093, according to MLBs calculations, the steepest rise since 2006. The players association has not yet released its final figures for this year. METAIRIE, La. -- Sean Payton made the end of Jabari Greers season official on Tuesday, announcing that the starting quarterback would be placed on injured reserve because of a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. Greer was injured on a play in which he leaped to break up a pass intended for Jon Baldwin in the first half of New Orleans victory over San Francisco on Sunday. His knee buckled and appeared hyper-extended when he landed, and he was carted to the locker room. Payton had hinted Monday that the injury was serious, but waited until Tuesday to disclose the ACL tear and report the roster move. New Orleans also has signed defensive back Trevin Wade, who was drafted by Cleveland and played much of last season, but had been a free agent throughout this season. Wade was signed to add depth. Payton said second-year cornerback Corey White is expected to take over Greers starting role, as he did during last Sundays game, in which he had an interception. "Hes been consistent this season," Payton said of the 6-foot-1, 205-pound White. "Hes been a very good tackler. He has good size and length. Hes strong and very quickly got adjusted to a lot of the snaps that he had outside. I think he has good football instincts as well and I think that serves him well on game day." Defensive co-ordinator Rob Ryan said White has "really been an ascending player." "He has been outstanding. He is a physical player. He is a smart kid. He is getting better and better," Ryan said. "Weve lost some great players along the way and we are so fortunate to have excellent players behind him and that is what this Corey White has been doing, begging for an opportunity. He is going to be great when he gets in there." White said he was sorry about the circumstances that led to his central role on the defence, but sounded optimistic that he was ready for it. "Its unfortunate that Jabari went down like that with him being a good leader on and off the field for us. Thats tough," White said. "But we always believe in all our teammates here and we believe in the next man up. Im pretty sure Jabari believes in me and so does every one of my secondary teammates, so well see how it goes." As much as Ryan raved about White, he did not diminish the loss of Greer, a popular 10-year veteran who was part of the Saints Super Bowl team. "He is a great person. We will miss him in the locker room most. But he was having a great year," Ryan said. "He was doing everything we asked him to do and then some." Payton said the Saints signed Wade because they thought he handled nickel back responsibilities well in Cleveland last season and because he had a good workout in New Orleans. "Hes someone that has decent speed but very good feet," Payton said. "Well see how he gets up to speed with what were doing. That will take a little bit." http://www.airmax90essential.com/nike-air-max-2017.html . Paire broke Giraldo twice and lost his serve once in both sets to wrap up the win in 1 hour, 10 minutes. A talented defender, Juan helped Brazils under-20 team win the South America Youth Championship last year. Inter was considering loaning Juan to Novara until the end of the season, but has now decided to keep him in Milan. The Nerazzurri also agreed a loan deal with Porto for Guarin for about C2 million ($2.6 million), according to the Gazzetta dello Sport. Including a full transfer at the end of the season, the total deal would rreportedly cost C11 million ($14.dddddddddddd4 million). Meanwhile, Roma has signed Fluminense winger Marquinho on loan and former Juventus midfielder Ruben Olivera has become Fiorentinas fifth January signing after joining from Lecce. Olivera, who has featured 11 times for Lecce this season, has reportedly signed a two-and-a-half year deal with the Tuscan club. The Uruguayan was at Juventus from 2002 to 2010 but made just 39 appearances for the Serie A club and was shipped out on several loan spells. Fiorentina has already signed Amauri, Guido Pizarro, Mounir El Hamdaoui and Kenneth Zohore this month. The transfer window closes at 7 p.m. local time (1800 GMT) on Tuesday. Smith will seek treatment following his arrest Friday for suspicion of driving under the influence and marijuana possession. After Sundays loss to the Colts, Smith apologized and acknowledged he will get help, but didnt field questions. "First off, I wanted to apologize to the team, the organization, my family and everybody I let down," he said. "I also wanted to let it be known that this is a problem and its something that I will get fixed, and that Ill do everything in my power to make sure that this never happens again. I also wanted to let everybody know that once again Im sorry." Smith started for San Francisco and had five tackles in a 27-7 loss, two days after he was arrested and jailed early Friday morning after his truck hit a tree. York defended the organizations decision to play Smith. "Our opinion is if youre sitting someone down and paying them to sit down when theyre going to seek treatment in the future, we didnt feel like that was an appropriate punishment," he said. "Were not trying to circumvent what the NFL will do. This is about making sure that Aldon has the opportunity to work on something, to get better, and he knows that he has our support and hopefully he has everybodys support in something that has been very difficult." York expects Smith to get help on his own, but the 49ers wont interfere. "I think Aldon is going to take steps on his own," York said. Smith is a key pass rusher and sacks leader for the 49ers, and coach Jim Harbaugh had said leading up to Sunday that the NFL would decide how to puniish the third-year pro, who turns 24 Wednesday.dddddddddddd He had a franchise-record 19 1/2 sacks last season, second in the NFL. When asked about Smith getting help, Harbaugh said "theres a process there well apprise you of at the appropriate time." Smith has had a rash of run-ins with the law that raised questions about his character. "It was disappointing, but we support him, and knowing that what he wants to do is not a one-day fix, its a long-term fix for Aldon," York said. "And Aldon is willing to fight for himself and try to make this right, and I will see it through, and I will support him. I will take any shots that anybody wants to direct at the organization. They can direct at me, and I will support Aldon as long as he is willing to work at this and fight to get better." Earlier this month, a lawsuit was filed in Santa Clara County Superior Court naming Smith by a Northern California man who said he was shot at a party at Smiths house on June 29, 2012. The players charged a $10 admission and $5 per drink, the lawsuit said. Smith and former 49ers tight end Delanie Walker, 29 were allegedly intoxicated on Smiths balcony when they later fired gunshots in the air while trying to end the party, the lawsuit said. Before the 2012 home opener last September, Smith was the passenger in a car accident in Santa Clara County in which the driver swerved to avoid hitting a deer. Smith sustained a cut beneath his right eyebrow. He apologized and insisted he had grown up. The 49ers selected Smith seventh overall in the first round of the 2011 draft out of Missouri. He became an instant impact player like many of the others chosen by general manager Trent Baalke in the past three drafts. HARRISON, N.J. -- Maximiliano Urruti scored in each half to rally Portland to a 2-1 victory over the New York Red Bulls on Saturday night, extending the Timbers unbeaten streak to five with only their second win of the season. Urruti tied it just before halftime and added the winner in the 74th to help Portland improve to 2-3-7 and move out of last place in Major League Soccers Western Conference. The Red Bulls (3-5-5) have lost three straight and two in a row at home. The win was the first for Portland in five meetings between the clubs. The Timbers only other victory this season came May 3 at home, 3-2 over D.C. United. After Bradley Wright-Phillips put New York ahead in the 36th, Urruti scored his fourth and fifth goals to lead Portland. "If youve seen us play this season, we wait until we get punched before we react," Timbers goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts said. "It was a nice response from the team." With less than a minute remaining in the first half, Steve Zakuani sent a simple pass to Urruti just outside the penalty area. The Argentine, who joined Portland in September, had time and space to turn and hit a shot that deflected off of New York defender Armandos shoulder and skip past keeper Luis Robles. "The first goal was key because we were kind of spread out throughout the pitch," Urruti said through a translator. "It kind of brought us back together again. It was good. We had to go into the locker room and come out more aggressive in the second half." Urruti added the winner when Jorge Villafanas cross through the 6-yard box deflected off Armando and bounced to the far corner of the goal area. Urruti ran in and drove the free ball into the far side netting. "Ive been getting used to the league. Getting more minutes has been key," Urruti said. "Getting more playing time being on the pitch, thats been moulding me into the player that Ive become and moulding me to the league itself." The Red Bulls started quickly, getting an Eric Alexander header from the edge of the six that went just high in the third minute. Wright-Phillips hit the inside of the right post from the middle of the penalty area six minutes later but the ball caromed back into the area. Wright-Phillips had a second chance seconds later when he put in a rebound of teammate Lloyd Sams shot, but he was offside. "Ive been in this league long enough, and Ive been through a hell of a lot longer and worse spells than were in right now," Red Bulls coach Mike Petke said. "Part of its mental. We did enough to win this game. It just didnt fall." Wright-Phillips put New York ahead in the 36th converting a penalty kick after Pa Mouda Kah was called for bringing down Lloyd Sam. Sam took a pass from Thierry Henry on the edge of the six and, with Kah on his back, the two jostled. Kah fell backward, pulling Sam on top of him. It was Wright-Phillips 10th of the season, giving him a share of the league lead with Kansas Citys Dom Dwyer. The two will meet Saturday in the mens Olympic Trials curling semifinal to determine who will play Brad Jacobs on Sunday in the final for the coveted spot on the Olympic team. Martin defeated Morris 7-6 in an extra end to clinch second in the mens standings Friday. But Morris also advanced to the semifinal after Kevin Koe beat Mike McEwen 5-4, guaranteeing Morris a third-place finish. Martin is hoping he can repeat the feat Saturday en route to a fourth Olympics berth. He won gold in 2010 and silver in 2002 and also went to the 1992 Games. "I hope so," he said after Fridays win. "It will be a tight game again but it was good to get through that one and the hammer in the semi and well hopefully play another good game (Saturday). "I would have to say we have to play a little better than (Friday) as a team. We were a little bit sloppy on a couple of ends." Morris was happy with how his team played. "I think we had a real sound strategy and kept control most of that game," he said. The exception was the sixth end when Martin scored three. "If we can just pick it up maybe just a half notch then we can win this thing . . . I like our chances," said Morris, who was born in Winnipeg but has made his name curling for both Ontario and Alberta. The former two-time world junior champion joined Martins Edmonton-based rink in 2006 but abruptly left in April to sign with and skip Jim Cotters squad out of the Vernon and Kelowna curling clubs.dddddddddddd Cotter moved to third. Martin then picked up another Manitoba native, former Randy Ferby fourth rock Dave Nedohin, to replace Morris. In womens action, Sherry Middaugh of Coldwater, Ont., advanced to a semifinal showdown with Ottawas on Friday night. The winner will face Winnipegs Jennifer Jones in Saturdays final. Middaugh ousted the last hometown favourite standing, Chelsea Carey, in a tight 6-3 tiebreaker. Neither skip really took many chances until a mistake by Careys second in the eighth end. Kristen Foster flashed on a guard and started a chain reaction that helped Middaugh get two for a 4-2 lead. She forced Carey to take one in the ninth and came home one up with the hammer, scoring two more in 10. "You certainly dont expect that," said Middaugh. "(Perhaps) just a half shot, not a total miss but then we took advantage of it." Carey was predictably disappointed but hoped her teams overall performance would silence those who suggested it didnt belong at the trials. "Weve proved that before but for whatever reason, nobody believes it," she said. "Maybe if we keep proving it, people will catch up." In other mens action, Jacobs completed the round robin with a 7-4 victory over John Epping, who finished last with a 1-6 record. Jeff Stoughton defeated Glen Howard 9-3 but both were already out of playoff contention. Stoughton finished 3-4 and Howard 2-5. CINCINNATI, Ohio -- The Cincinnati Reds came up with a game plan to steal a game from Jake Arrieta, and they ran with it. Billy Hamilton stole his 51st base and the Reds swiped six in all, beating the Chicago Cubs 7-2 Thursday. Zack Cozart and Todd Frazier each stole twice, and Kristopher Negron added one more. The last time the Reds stole at least six was 2006 against Washington. The Reds had six steals in the first four innings, using six hits and four walks to build a 6-0 lead against Arrieta (7-5). Cincinnati stole three in a three-run second inning and two in a three-run fourth. All six steals came at second base, with John Baker catching Arrieta. "We knew it would be hard to score on Arrieta," Reds manager Bryan Price said. "We wanted to create some opportunities by being aggressive. We did a good job, all the way through, not just the first time through the lineup." Dylan Axelrod (1-0) pitched five scoreless innings of two-hit ball and struck out eight. "He had roughly 60 pitches in the first three innings," Price said. "It looked like he would only make it through three but he made an in-game adjustment and made it through five." Axelrod was taking injured Homer Baileys spot in the starting rotation and made his first start for the Reds since Aug. 16 in Colorado. Axelrod left that game with a lead, only to have the bullpen give it up. A water main break in Denver caused a doubleheader that taxed the Reds bullpen and Axelrod was sent to the minors in favour of bullpen help. "It made sense," Axelrod said of that move. "You have to take advantage of every opportunity up here. They took some tough two-strike pitches in the first two innings. I decided to attack with my fastball. The three run lead made it easier. Cubs rookie Jorge Soler doubled and singled in his second major league game and drove in a run. He homered and singled in his debut on Wednesday. Hamilton set the tone right away. He drew a leadoff walk in the first and stole second on the next pitch. Hamilton went 2 for 2 with a double and walked twice. Dee Gordon of the Dodgers began the day leading the majors with 58 steals. Negron and Cozart each stole and scored in the second. Cozart and Frazier both stole and scored in the fourth. Cozart had three hits, including a double, and scored three times. "Ive been feeling better the last three weeks but I havent always gotten the results," Cozart said. "Now its starting to show. Weve been aggressive all year and not just with Billy. It makes it fun and creates opportunities when we run." Arrieta felt he could have done a better job against the Reds running game. "I was bad at holding the runners. Thats my fault," Arrieta said. "I wasnt giving Baker an opportunity to throw them out. That sets up the hits." "Frazier hit two good pitches, but the pitch to Phillips was out over the plate, and so was the one to Hamilton for the double. Ive got to vary my times better at holding the ball. They were aggressive on the bases and at the plate. They were able to get good reads and good jumps." Reds relievers Pedro Villareal and Logan Ondrusek combined for three perfect innings. The Cubs scored two runs off Jumbo Diaz in the ninth. WHIFF Jay Bruce struck out five times. He is the seventh Reds player to strike out five times in a game and the second to do it in nine innings. Adam Dunn also struck out five times in nine innings in 2002. TRAINERS ROOM Cubs: 1B Anthony Rizzo was out of the lineup for the second straight day with tightness in his lower back. Manager Rick Renteria hopes to have him back for the upcoming series in St. Louis. Reds: Bailey (right elbow) and 1B Joey Votto (left knee) are progressing at a slow rate. The Reds plan to call up seven to nine players on Monday when rosters expand to 40, according to manager Bryan Price. UP NEXT Cubs: Kyle Hendricks (5-1) will open the four-game series in St. Louis on Friday. He had a rain-shortened, two-inning start Aug. 23 against Baltimore. Reds: Mike Leake (10-11) will begin the opener of a three-game series in Pittsburgh on Friday. Leake is 5-0 in 11 starts against Pittsburgh since a 3-2 loss on May 5, 2012. DH PLANS Cubs LHP Felix Doubront will come off the DL to start the opener of Saturdays doubleheader in St. Louis. LHP Tsuyoshi Wada will start the second game. YOUNG CUBS The Cubs started four players who were 24 or younger: Veteran Starlin Castro (24), who made his debut at 20, Javier Baez (21), Jorge Soler (22) and Arismendy Alcantara (22) were in the starting lineup. Paddy McNair Manchester United Jersey .com) - Charlotte Bobcats center Al Jefferson and Dallas Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki have been named the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for the period ending April 6. BALTIMORE -- Manny Machado watched the previous two games from the bench, and he didnt much like the view. In his return to the Baltimore Orioles lineup Sunday, Machado enjoyed a far better sight: A ball soaring off his bat and over the 25-foot scoreboard in right field. Machado and Nelson Cruz homered, Steve Pearce had three hits and the Orioles beat the Cleveland Indians 4-2 for a split of the four-game series. During a 13-inning game Thursday night, Machado was pulled because of a right groin strain. He sat down Friday, then again Saturday before returning to his customary No. 2 spot in the lineup in the series finale. After a first-inning walk and a third-inning strikeout, Machado hit an opposite-field drive to right against Trevor Bauer (1-2) to put Baltimore ahead 3-2 in the fifth. As soon as the ball cleared the fence, Machado celebrated his second homer of the season with a joyous fist-pump. "It was just the adrenaline rushing," he said. "I thought the ball was going to be off the wall, and then obviously the ball kept carrying. My emotions came out a little bit." The 21-year-old Machado missed April after undergoing off-season knee surgery and was batting .229 with one homer and three RBIs before connecting. As frustrating as his slow start was, the groin injury was even more infuriating. So, after sitting for two days, the All-Star third baseman was delighted to be back. "It was a relief I was just able to run the bases and run and take some swings in the game," he said. "That was the biggest relief, obviously. That was the icing on the cake with the home run." Better yet, he felt pretty good afterward. "It still bothers me a little bit, but nothing too crazy," Machado said. "Feels much better than what it was initially when it first happened. Were just going to keep treating it and hopefully it will get better." Miguel Gonzalez (3-3) bounced back from a shaky start to hold the Indians to two runs and four hits over six innings. Hes 3-0 in three career starts against Cleveland. Zach Britton, the third Orioles reliever, worked a perfect ninth to earn his second save and complete the five-hitter. In the fifth, one out after Machado went deep, Cruz hit his major-league leading 16th home run on a 3-2 pitch. "The more games that I play the more comfortable I feel," said Cruz, who signed a one-year contract in late Feebruary.dddddddddddd "Its been a blessing to be a part of this team. To be able to contribute and have the team win, its been good." Pearce was playing first base for Chris Davis, who was placed on paternity leave before the game. Pearce matched his career high for hits in a game, scored Baltimores first run and also had an RBI. Bauer allowed four runs and six hits in 4 1-3 innings, the second-shortest of his 11 career starts. The right-hander struck out eight, including Nick Markakis and J.J. Hardy twice each. "I thought right from the get-go he was having a tough time commanding his fastball," Indians manager Terry Francona said. "He was a lot in deep counts. His stuff was good, but a lot of it was elevated." Bauer made no excuses. "My worst command of the year," he said. "Felt great. Felt good all day. Just couldnt throw the fastball where I wanted to." Cleveland did all its scoring in the first inning, got only two at-bats with runners in scoring position and absorbed its second loss in seven games. "I think were playing good baseball," Bauer said. "I wish I had given the team more of a chance to win today." The Indians used two hits and a walk to load the bases with no outs in the first before Lonnie Chisenhall and Nick Swisher delivered run-scoring flyballs. It was the second sacrifice fly in 241 career games for Chisenhall and Swishers fourth this season. Baltimore got a run in the second when Pearce singled, stole second and scored on a bloop single by Jonathan Schoop. In the third, Pearce hit an RBI single after Cruz doubled with two outs. NOTES: In addition to placing Davis on paternity leave, Baltimore added C Nick Hundley to the roster, recalled RHP Preston Guilmet from Triple-A Norfolk and optioned INF Steve Lombardozzi to the same minor league club. ... Swisher returned after missing two games with a sore knee. Indians SS Asdrubal Cabrera (leg) missed a third straight start but entered as a pinch hitter in the eighth. ... The Orioles will send Chris Tillman to the mound Monday against NL Central leader Milwaukee. Cleveland travels to Chicago to face the White Sox. ... Clevelands Michael Brantley extended his hitting streak to 11 games, and teammate David Murphy snapped a 0-for-15 skid with a fifth-inning single. ... Chisenhall has an RBI in six straight games. SEOUL, South Korea - Bernd Wiesberger of Austria shot a second straight 7-under 65 Saturday to open up a five-shot lead after the third round of the Ballantines Championship. He equaled the Blackstone Golf Club course record he had set the previous day to reach 14-under 202. Marcus Fraser of Australia was in second after a third-round 69, with Englands Oliver Fisher (67) and Chiles Felipe Aguilar (68) one shot back in a tie for third. The 26-year-old Wiesberger led by one shot after the second round and he extended his advantage with a 15-foot birdie putt on the fourth green and another from five foot at the sixth. He made five more birdies on the back nine to close in on his first European Tour victory. "I have never had a five-shot lead in a European Tour event," said Wiesberger, who lost a playoff to Thomas Bjorn at the 2011 Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles in Scotland. "But I am not thinking about trying to win by one shot, I am thinking maybe to win by 10 shots. I am going to try to relax and stay positive." Fraser has won twice on tour including victory at the Ballantines in 2010 at Jeju Island, but he conceded his young playing partner would be difficult to beat. "He played great today," Fraser said. "He gave himself a chance of birdie on almost every hole and he putted great. If I was a betting man I would put my house on him winning." Two of Europes veteran Ryder Cup stars — Irelands Paul McGinley and Spains Miguel Angel Jimenez — climbed up to tie for fifth at 7-under 209. The 45-year-old McGinley is playing only his fifth tournament since undergoing his seventh knee operation last December. Having missed two cuts and withdrawn from the Trophee Hassan II in Morocco because of fitness problems, McGinley had expressed doubts about his playing future. But after a flying start which saw him make five birdies in his first six holes, he finished with a 65. Jimenez had a 69 and joined McGinley seven shots off the lead. http://www.airmax90essential.com/nike-air-max-95-australia/air-max-95-og.html . COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Tim Tebow will continue chasing his goal to be a NFL quarterback, even after signing on to help ESPN launch the SEC Network this fall. The former Florida Gator said Tuesday he trains five days a week for a return to the league. "I feel like Im the best that Ive ever been as a quarterback right now. I hope I get the opportunity to show that," he said. "But Im also looking forward to being part of SEC Nation and part of ESPN." The 26-year-old Heisman Trophy winner signed on Monday to be on the SEC Networks pregame show starting in August. Hell be part of the crew that will travel to Southeastern Conference schools in advance of SEC games on the fledgling network. Tebows first "SEC Nation" show will be on Aug. 28 before Texas A&M opens the season at South Carolina, a game that will be shown exclusively on the SEC Network. Tebow and the show then head to Auburn on Aug. 30 where the Tigers will take on Arkansas. That is, of course, if Tebow doesnt get a call from the NFL that has him tied up that weekend. "Im not sure whats ahead of me," Tebow said. "Im very excited to have this opportunity at ESPN, but who knows what the next few months will hold." Tebow has bounced around the NFL since leaving Florida as part of two national champions. He was a first-round selection by Denver and then head coach Josh McDaniels in 2010. He took over as starting quarterback mid-season in 2011 became one of the NFLs biggest stories as he went 7-1 in his first eight starts in 2011 then threw an 80-yard touchdown pass on the first play of overtime to give the Broncos a 29-23 playoff win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. But there were still doubts about his passing ability, and Denver traded him that off-season to the New York Jets after acquiring Peyton Manning. He languished on the bench while coach Rex Ryan ignored fans calls for Tebow to replace a struggling Mark Sanchez. Tebow threw just eight passes, ran only 32 times and was cut last April 29. For six weeks no team wanted him until the Patriots signed him to a low-risk, two-year contract with no guaranteed money. "I dont have any regrets" about the NFL, Tebow said. "Ive just tried to focus on being a better quarterback, being a better athlete and being ready whenever a team gave me a call." Tebow said hes spoken with several friends who are analysts, including his former coach at Florida in Urban Meyer, who worked for ESPN between his time with the Gators and his current position as Ohio State head coach. Justin Connolly, ESPN senior vice-president for college networks programming, said Tebow was important enough to ESPN that the network accepted he might not be finished with the NFL. "In terms of specific situations, I dont want to get ahead of ourselves and comment on any particular eventuality or scenario that you could put together," Connolly said. "But thats a key piece of this relationship and were going to honour that and respect it." Connolly was asked on Tuesdays conference call if Tebows faith -- hes a noted speaker whos gained followers and critics for sharing his religious beliefs -- might enter into his analysis. Connolly stressed Tebow was hired for his inside knowledge of football and the SEC. "Thats what the audience expects from him," Connolly said. Matt Read scored a pair of goals to lift the Flyers to a convincing 4-0 victory over the short-handed Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday. "We were looking for a game like that a long time ago where we make sure that everybody follows the game plan and everybody plays 60 minutes," said Flyers captain Claude Giroux, who had a pair of assists. "It feels pretty good." Scott Hartnell and Vincent Lecavalier also scored for Philadelphia, which is in the middle of a tightly bunched pack of teams battling for a playoff spot. The Penguins, who are comfortably atop the Metropolitan Division, were shut out for the fourth time this season. Pittsburgh played without its third- and fourth-leading scorers, Chris Kunitz (lower body) and James Neal (concussion). The Flyers neutralized Pittsburgh stars Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin. "They did a lot of what we expected," Pittsburgh coach Dan Bylsma said. "We werent able to handle it, and in all aspects of the game we werent good." Besides Kunitz and Neal, the Penguins continued to be without top winger Pascal Dupuis (knee) and defencemen Kris Letang (stroke) and Paul Martin (hand). But Bylsma wouldnt use injuries as an excuse. "We have capable guys, guys who have done well for us before," he said. "We have to find ways to win within our roles regardless of whos in there. We werent able and ready to do that today." Philadelphia played like the first-place team in a matchup between two the leagues top rivals. "We want to finish higher and want home-ice advantage," Giroux said. "Its there for us to take but we have to keep playing like this." The Flyers came out with a high-energy attack from the opening faceoff in one of their best efforts of the season. Steve Mason made 25 saves for his fourth shutout of the season and 23rd of his career. "Everything felt very under control," Mason said. Leading 2-0 after one period, Philadelphia made it 4-0 with a pair of second-period goals. Lecavalier made it 3-0 when he scored on a breakaway after taking a stelllar pass from Luke Schenn.dddddddddddd Then, Read tallied his second of the game by finishing a beautifully executed 3-on-1 with Giroux and Sean Couturier with 17 seconds remaining in the period to give Philadelphia a 4-0 advantage. Couturier passed to Giroux in the slot and Giroux faked the shot before going back to Couturier, who whipped it across the ice to a wide-open Read. Read tapped home the goal past a sprawling Fleury, who was fooled by Girouxs fake. "Its hard to miss those when theyre right on your stick," Read said. "I benefited from those two making a great play." Mason kept Pittsburgh scoreless with a strong second period that included a point-blank stop of Jayson Megna six minutes into the period and a solid save on Simon Despres try from the left circle with 33 seconds left. The Flyers jumped out to a 2-0 lead with two nice goals in the first period. Hartnell opened the scoring with a power-play goal 3:50 into the game by one-timing Girouxs pass from the slot. The shot changed directions when hitting Brooks Orpiks stick and went off Fleurys left shoulder and in. A little more than four minutes later, Read scored a short-handed tally on a one-timer from close range after taking a deft pass from Couturier from behind the net and firing it over Fleurys left shoulder. The Flyers unveiled an 8-foot, 1,300-pound statue of Hall of Fame coach Fred Shero prior to the game on the former site of the Spectrum, which is adjacent to the Wells Fargo Center. Shero coached the Flyers for seven seasons and won a pair of Stanley Cups, in 1974 and 75. Sheros son, Ray, who is the Penguins general manager, was among those who attended the pregame ceremony. Notes: Kunitz, who has 59 points on the season, warmed up but didnt play. Kunitz crashed into the goal post in the third period of Tuesdays game against Washington. Bylsma was noncommittal when asked whether Kunitz would play Sunday. ... G Ray Emery returned to his role backing up Mason. Emery hadnt dressed since suffering a lower body injury Feb. 27 against San Jose. ... Crosby, who leads the NHL with 88 points, entered with 75 points in 30 career games against Philadelphia. ... PHOENIX -- Goran Dragic had a special person he wanted to impress. Son Mateo -- age three months and three days -- attended his first NBA game. "I was a little bit hyped," Dragic said. "I tried to show him what his daddy can do." As has been the case often in this breakout season, Dragic did a lot, especially when it mattered most. He scored 13 of his career-high 34 points in the final seven minutes and the Phoenix Suns pulled away to beat the depleted Golden State Warriors 122-109 on Saturday night. Dragic, who also had 10 assists, topped 30 points for the sixth time this season as the Suns (30-20) pulled a half-game ahead of the Warriors (30-21) for the sixth-best record in the Western Conference. Gerald Green added 25 points and P.J. Tucker had 16 points and a career-best 15 rebounds for Phoenix. After two sub-par performances in losses, the Suns might have had their best offensive game, coach Jeff Hornacek said. "These guys were sharp," he said. "The one thing I told them, especially that fourth quarter, they played smart." Stephen Curry had 28 points and nine assists and Harrison Barnes scored 23 points for the Warriors, who were without front-line starters Andrew Bogut and David Lee. Both missed their second straight game, Bogut with left shoulder inflammation, Lee with a left shoulder sprain and left hip strain. "We are a no-excuse team," Golden State coach Mark Jackson said. "Obviously were missing those guys but we still have more than enough to win ball games. Give the credit they played extremely well. They are a very good offensive team." Dragic, left out of the All-Star game, made 10 of 13 shots. He tied his career best for 3-pointers made with six, in seven attempts. His torrid finish came after he experienced a dizzy spell. After a couple of sports drinks, he felt better. Dragic said Hornacek has made it clear that when the game is on the line, its time to step up. "I was kind of cruising the third quarter," Dragic said. "I just hit one 3 and I was not aggressive enough, and then the fourth quarter I just started playing. I just started feeling good." Curry was 0 for 3 shooting and scoreless in the fourth quarter. "They got hot," Curry said. "Gerald Green and Dragic made some big-time shots. We had some shots that spun in and out. It was one of those nights we thought that, besides the boards, we played well all-around. We didnt have timely stops." Phoenix took the lead for good with the last basket of the opening quarter and was up by as many as 14 in the third but Curry kept the Warriors close. Golden State twice cut it to two in the final quarter, the last time at 102-100 on Jermaine ONeals tip-in with 7:55 to play. Dragic sank two 3s in an 11-2 run that finally put the Suns in control for good, 113-102 on Tuckers basket with just under four minutes to play. Phoenix outscored Golden State 20-9 over the final 7:33. The Suns opened the second half with a 13-3 run, taking a 76-62 lead on Tuckers 3-pointer, but Curry scored four and Barnes hit a 3 in a 7-0 spurt that cut it to 78-71 with six minutes left in the third quarter. Golden State outscored the Suns 11-4 over the final two minutes of the quarter to slice Phoenixs lead to 95-90 entering the fourth. Phoenix led most of the first half but never by more than nine points and was up 63-59 at the break. Without Bogut and Lee, the Warriors were outrebounded 26-15 in the first half and 45-34 for the game. "We had to crash the boards," Tucker said. "The boards were key, the paint was key. We know Steph is going to make crazy shots, Klay (Thompson) will get a couple off. Thats stuff we can live with. With the boards, not giving up second opportunity points was key and thats what I really wanted to capitalize on tonight." Notes: The Suns have won 10 in a row in games where Green scored at least 20 points. ... Both teams close out their pre-All Star game schedule at home against Miami, Phoenix on Tuesday and Golden State on Wednesday. ... Ouellette, from Montreal, already has three Olympic gold medals since joining the team in 1999.Lawrence, KS (SportsNetwork.com) - Two of the top teams in the Big 12 Conference get together on Monday night, as the Iowa State Cyclones pull into Allen Fieldhouse to tangle with the Kansas Jayhawks. At 6-2 in the Big 12, Iowa State is off to its best start in conference play since the 2000-01 season. The Cyclones, who are presently tied with West Virginia for second place, have won their last two games to improve to 16-4 overall. ISU whipped TCU at home on Saturday, 83-66, and the squad will try to climb a game over .500 in true road tests with a win tonight, and in the process earn its first regular-season sweep of the Jayhawks since 2000-01. Kansas holds down first place in the Big 12 standings, as the team has won four straight to elevate its league ledger to 7-1, and its overall record to 18-3. The Jayhawks took down visiting Kansas State on Saturday, 68-57, to improve to 11-0 at home. These two teams met in Ames on Jan. 17, with the Cyclones prevailing in an 86-81 final. Still, Kansas holds a commanding lead in the all-time series at 176-61, which includes a 90-15 mark in Lawrence. In the first meeting between the two teams, Iowa States Naz Long scored 20 points to lead six players in double figures, among them Monte Morris who logged his first career double-double with 11 points and 10 assists. The Jayhawks got 21 points from Frank Mason III, while Perry Ellis logged his own double-double with 19 points and 11 boards in defeat. Georges Niang was high man for the Cyclones in their recent win over TCU, as he tallied 23 points while grabbing eight rebounds. Morris and Bryce Dejean- Jones tacked on 16 points apiece, while Dustin Hogue added 12 points for an Iowa State squad that drained 56.4 percent of its field goal attempts. As for the Horrned Frogs, they shot just 40.dddddddddddd6 percent from the floor, and went a dreadful 1-of-8 at the free-throw line. Furthermore, ISU controlled the glass to the tune of a 44-30 rebounding advantage. All five starters are averaging double figures for the Cyclones this season, led by Niangs 15.2 ppg. As a result, the team is netting 80.3 ppg in hitting 49.1 percent of its total shots, but only 35.1 percent of its 3-point tries. Iowa States defensive stance allows the opposition 68.6 ppg, behind typical shooting efforts of .414 overall, .339 from beyond the arc, and .751 at the foul line. Kansas played exceptional defense in Saturdays win over rival Kansas State, as it held the Wildcats to 33.3 percent field goal efficiency, which included a horrific 17.1 percent (6-of-35) effort in the first half. K-State finished with five 3-pointers, but went 0-of-7 from distance during the opening 20 minutes. The Jayhawks were only 44.8 percent accurate from the floor, and they had a rough day at the charity stripe (10-of-17). Ellis produced another double-double with 16 points and 12 boards, while Wayne Selden, Jr. chipped in with 14 points, Brannen Greene 11 and Mason III 10 in the winning effort. For the season, Kansas is putting up 71.8 ppg, thanks in large part to its near-40 percent performance out on the perimeter and 70.8 percent showing at the free-throw line. Balance has been the key, as seven players average at least 6.0 ppg, including double-digit scorers Ellis (12.8 ppg) and Mason III (12.7 ppg). The Jayhawks have done well for the themselves at the defensive end by yielding 64.2 ppg, with foes shooting just 39.8 percent from the field. A +5.9 rebounding differential has also helped the team achieve some of its goals this season.
